NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Being ladylike has never looked so sexy! This season the Gucci woman embodies a mixture
of reserved sensuality and dark seductiveness. Frida Giannini, Creative Director for Gucci ,
who is pregnant with her first child, drew inspiration from the classic femme fatale.
"She seduces with her dangerous femininity," writes Creative Director Frida Giannini in her show notes.

She featured below-the-knee hemlines, cheeky thigh-high slits, plunging décolletages, kimono-cut
overcoats and body conscious silhouettes. There was an undeniable theme of strength within this
collection which was pulled off brilliantly through the use of patent leather, snakeskin, sheers and
feathers in rich autumn tones. Deep scooped V-necklines paired with cinched waists and roomy
rounded coats worked to heighten the super woman appeal.

As the show progressed the designs became increasingly more alluring. Through the course of the
fifteen minute presentation Giannini showed us boxy separates, body conscious dresses,
dominatrix inspired leather pieces and studded feather numbers.

As to be expected the front row of Gucci was just as much a spectacle as the fashion show itself.
Hollywood darling Salma Hayek sat front row with husband François-Henri Pinault, CEO
of the PPR Group that owns Gucci, and created quite a stir in her fitted mauve dress, fur vest and
over-sized black clutch (of course all from Gucci).

The runway was equally as hot thanks to models such as Joan Smalls, Anja Rubik, Chanel Iman and Karlie
Kloss. The first number was a structured over-sized jacket and matching slim fit skirt decorated with
floral print on the sides. This piece set the tone for the rest of the collection. Power, strength and
demure sexuality oozed from the seams of each garment. Leather from head to toe came across as
daring and fetish-like at times especially paired with the edgy beauty look and pulled back mane.
Along with basic black, the fabric palette included moss green, maroon, blue, deep purple and rust.

The evening wear portion left us wanting more. Giannini's pregnancy definitely did not comprise the classic
Gucci aesthetic. The cuts and silhouettes were sexy and stylish with a modern appeal.

Lace, silk, fringe embellishments and feathers made its marks during the latter part of the show on a series
of floor length dresses and jumpsuits. Finally, we could not discuss this collection without giving mention
to the incredible accessories. Knee high snakeskin boots, decorated gloves and leather bags were
simply irresistible.
