When Nigerian star actress Funke Akindele, widely known as Jenifa was casting for her self-produced movie Jenifa, she wanted an actress who could perfectly play the lead role. All she wanted to do was to focus on writing and producing the movie.
She searched but just couldn’t find that one person for the character Jenifa. Jenifa was so local a role she needed somebody that better fits it, and who viewers can easily connect and identify with. So it came down to one thing; she took up the role, and played it the way she had wanted. She became a national star afterwards.(msn)
